Born in 1965, he graduated from the History Department of Hebei University with a bachelor's degree and a research fellow. He is currently the deputy director of the Qing Tomb Museum, the director of the research office; the professor of the History College of Hebei University, the master tutor of the Department of Archaeology; and the Distinguished Professor of North China University of Technology. The research direction is the archaeological study of the Mausoleum of the Qing Dynasty, the study of the mausoleum system of the Qing Dynasty, and the study of the court system of the Qing Dynasty. He is a member of the Chinese Qing History Society and a member of the China Forbidden City Society.

He has been in lectures at Tsinghua University, Peking University, Central University for Nationalities, Hebei University, Shandong University of Finance and Economics, Zhengzhou University, Tianjin Normal University, North China University of Technology, etc., and invited academic lectures; in May 2012, at CCTV "The pulpit" lectures on "Qing Dongling Password"; in October 2013, he gave a lecture on "The Mystery of the Qing Dynasty Emperor's Mausoleum" in the "Hundreds of Lectures"; in December 2013, he gave a lecture on "The Hundreds of Lectures" and "Hezheng and His Rings" "In June 2014, in the "Hundreds of Lectures", the "Qingdao Emperor's Hougong Doubt Case"; in March 2015, in the "Hundreds of Lectures", the "Declaration of the Emperor's Mausoleum of the Qing Dynasty" series.

Li Wei is a member of the Standing Committee of the Tangshan Municipal Political Consultative Conference. His deeds were featured in the "National Sounds" magazine. In 2014, he was on the cover of the "Tangshan CPPCC".
